Fairfax Homeowners Selling a Home – Curb Appeal Matters

Fairfax Homeowners Selling a Home – Curb Appeal Matters

Welcome home - buy me!Curb appeal really matters when selling a home in Fairfax VA.  When selling a home just remember the phrase “You can judge a book by its cover!”  The truth is you can… when buying a home.  A home must call out to buyers driving by “Welcome!”  A home from the exterior should not act as repellent turning buyers away from seeing your home.  That is counterproductive.  If a home looks nasty from the street, buyers will not go into the home no matter how wonderful the inside is.  They will just drive buy!  A major problem in the Northern VA and Fairfax area is that most of the homes have very limited landscaping.  It is what we call “Builder grade!”  That means no extras and no upgrades.  All the homes have is grass and a few common shrubs, and the home is not professionally landscaped.  That hurts the seller, and it also hurts the resale price.   Potential home buyers are turned off big time.  They want a home not a depressing project.  When a buyer looks at the faded exterior trim paint, an uncut lawn, walkway that needs pressure washing, cloudy windows, and a moldy looking roof… that’s enough to make them tell their agents to drive on to the next listing on the list.

Selling home is a package deal and nothing should be overlooked as a marketing item.  The entire home matters from the exterior to the interior.  Lawns, exterior paint, shrubs, gutters, driveways, windows…all matter!  For more information about selling a home in Fairfax VA, please do not hesitate to contact us.  It will be our pleasure to assist you as your Fairfax VA listing agents.
